Hundreds ofhorses have taken glanders and allsorts of things via that means. Notthat the horses touch the iron part ofthe trough and leave germs there,but simply that a healthy horsedrinks immediately after a diseasedone and gets the germs, spume, etc.,left in the water by the other. Theidea suggests itself that the horsebe given a hygienic drinking foun-tain,r&a IB provided for us humans.We cant expect a horse to put hismouth over a little stream shootingin the air, but the device that Isroughly sketched herein will do thetrick of giving the horse an individualdrinking fountain.
