Book of the Royal Blue Published Monthly by thePassenger Department of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Vol. IV. BALTIMORE, APRIL, 1901 No. 7. IDEAL MOUNTAIN RESORTS. ON the very top of the Alleghenies isa broad plateau nearly 3,000 feetabove the level of the sea, whichforms the great watershed to the Atlanticon the east, the Mississippi on the westand the Gulf of Mexico on the south. Thisplateau which is comparatively level for adistance of nine miles and covered withbeautiful primeval forests is known as theGlades. It is in this section of the the Deer Park Hotel, surrounded by anumber of cottages, present a most attrac-tive sight. The utmost good taste hasbeen shown in the preservation of theforests, whilst removing just enough treesto enhance the beauty of the grounds.Rising above the surrounding oaks, beech,maple, etc., the roof line of the main hotelreveals itself above a verdant backgroundof dense foliage.
