One of these islands is historic Blen-nerhasset Island, which is a great pleasureresort and picnic ground. As a summer residence the city is givento outdoor pleasures. It has gun clubs, fish-ing clubs, boating clubs, automobile clubs,golf and country clubs. It has two largeand highly cultivated parks in the city limits,and there are two spacious athletic parks.There is a spacious summer theater andcasino in the suburbs. There are four large modern officebuildings in the city. There are threemodern and finely equipped hospitals in thecity limits. The Childrens Home has abeautiful location on the edge of the city. The city is surrounded by fine gardeninglands and owing to the fine local marketand the proximity to the large cities of theOhio Valley, gardening and the raising offruits is very profitable. The largest green-house in the State is located at Parkersburg. Parkersburg is the most accessible pointin the State for public gatherings.
