Français : Farès 1953 rattache ces miniatures à l’école dite de Bagdad et considère que le peintre vivait en Syrie-Mésopotamie (p. 19 et 26). Mélikian-Chirvani 1967 estime, au contraire, que les influences persanes sont manifestes et que ce manuscrit a sans doute été réalisé en Iran oriental. Ettinghausen 1977 suggère une origine nord-mésopotamienne (p. 67-74). Nassar 1985 propose de définir « a Jazīran style of miniature painting », un style original qui mêle les influences de l’art byzantin et celles de l’art seljoukide, et que l’on retrouve dans des œuvres produites dans les régions de Mossoul et du Diyār Bakr au cours du xiie siècle et de la première moitié du xiiie.
