Title
Book clasp.
Description
English: Copper alloy book clasp, flat rectangular hook piece. Expanded end bifurcated, with central goove enhancing bifurcation. Two concentric circles with central dot are stamped in the middle of the mount. There are two copper alloy rivets through the expanded end. The hook is broken off the other end. The sheet back plate is slightly damaged but still in place - it is rivetted to the front plate at the expanded end, and soldered at the other end (a circle of metal at this end looks like a rivet but it doesn't go through to the other side). Early Post Medieval c.1500-1700. Length 40.74mm, width 17.26mm, thickness (across rivet) 3.54mm, weight 3.47g.
