Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 35-60 cm; Weight: 3.7-6.3 kg; Identification: The bonnet macaque is gray-brown in color with pale undersides and a pale pink face; Habitat: Forests, urban and rural areas; Diet: Omnivore: fruit, insects, leaves, crops; Reproduction: Females give birth to 1-2 young after a gestation period of 150 days; Social Structure: Macaques live in groups of ten to several hundred. There is a strong social dominance hierarchy in both sexes; Behavior: These monkeys can be found in the trees and on the ground throughout the day; Status: No special status; Interesting Facts: The mother/infant bond continues into adulthood with the females, but the males will leave the group upon reaching sexual maturity.
