Summary
[edit]DescriptionBonin petrel (Pterodroma hypoleuca) (6723299213) (cropped).jpg | Bonin petrel. After rats were eradicated from Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge, populations of burrowing seabirds such as this Bonin petrel, bounced back. In less than 10 years Bonin petrel populations rose from 250 thousand to nearly a million. The night sky on Midway is a static of petrels. Their eerie, gurgling calls rise and fall all around.
