Summary
[edit]DescriptionBonin Field (former Germania Park), Holyoke, Massachusetts.JPG |
English: Bonin Field in South Holyoke, looking north from South Bridge Street in at least a vaguely similar vantage point as the 1941 Library of Congress photo of the area when it was still a part of the German immigrant colony. The only key reference between the two being the small metal smokestack at the center-left. Clemente/Park Street has since been filled in past Jackson Street, although the land parcels in assessors maps show the former road as a tract. The front lot of the red building, Dock's Classics, is where the former Lutheran Church once stood. USGS satellite photos show many of these changes occurred between the period after World War II and the 1970s.
With the exception of the two remaining residential buildings from Battleship Block, this particular section of South Holyoke not longer retains any residences.
