When grown in garden sow in double rows 6 to 8 inches apart; the rows 2 to 4 feet apart. Sow the extra-early varieties as early as the ground can be worked in February or March; plant for a succession every two weeks until June. For a fall crop plant about the middle of August. The wrinkled varieties are not as hardy as the small, round sort and if planted early should have a dry soil or they are liable to rot in the ground.
