Text Appearing Before Image:
oken-hearted and (loor, she put an end to herwretched life,—and Paris laughed. The breaking- in of a new girl model is a joythat the students never permit themselves to miss.Among the many demoiselles who come every Mon-day morning are usually one ov two that are new.The new one is accompanied by two or more of hergirl friends, who give her encouragement at the ter-rible moment when she disrobes. As there are nodressing-rooms, there can be no privacy. The stu-dents gather about and watch the proceedings withgreat interest, and make whatever remarks theirdeviltry can suggest. The students have adopted agrave and serious bearing, and solemnly ask her toassume the most outlandish and ungraceful poses. Then come long and mock-earnest arguments abouther figure, these arguments having been carefullylearned and rehearsed beforehand. One claims thather waist is too long and her legs too heavy ; anotherhotly takes the opposite view. Then they put herthrough the most absurd evolutions to prove theirpoints. At last she is made to don her hat andstockings ; and the students form a ring about herand dance and shout until she is ready to faint. Of course the studio has a ringrleader in all thisdeviltry,—all studios have. Joncierge is head of allt
