Description |
English: Parked on the de-tuners at the BA base ready for an engine run. On 24th June 1982 whilst en-route Kualu Lumpur to Perth "XH" flew into an ash cloud from Mount Galunggung Volcano south of Java. All four engines flamed-out, but the crew comprising Captain Eric Moody, Co-pilot Roger Greaves and Flight Engineer Barry Townley-Freeman managed to restart the engines, although no.2 had to be shut down again. A successful three-engine landing was made at Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. |
