Kommentar: Anläßlich des 66. Geburtstages des britischen Militärs und Numismatikers Charles R. Fox (1796-1873) am 6. Nov. 1862. - Die Sammlung des Generalleutnants Fox wurde 1873 für das Münzkabinett der (damals) königlichen Museen erworben. Das Erwerbungsbuch des Münzkabinetts vermerkt am 25. Okt. 1873 den Eingang der Sammlung C. R. Fox mit insgesamt 12.133 Objekten, davon 342 aus Gold, 4.225 aus Silber und 7.566 Aes (11.391 Griechen, 130 Römer sowie 612 Mittelalter und Neuzeit).

Reverse: GREEK - COINS / AV - 285 / AR - 3580 / AE - 6168 / Total - 10033 [AV, AR, AE ligated]. The open book represents an inventory of Fox's coin collection, broken down by gold, silver, and bronze. Below it is Fox's own signature.

Information: The medal was struck on the occasion of the 66th birthday of the British military and numismatist Charles R. Fox (1796-1873) on November 6, 1862. On October 25, 1873, the collection of Lieutenant General Fox was acquired for the Münzkabinett (coin cabinet) of what was then the Royal Museums. The acquisitions records show the receipt of 12,133 objects in total, of which 342 were made of gold, 4,225 were made of silver, and 7,566 bronze (11,391 Greek, 130 Roman, and 612 medieval and modern).
