De izquierda a derecha: Rafael, futuro politico y diplomático; Carmen Valdés, flamante segunda esposa de Maximiano que morirá a su regreso a Chile después de contraer la fiebre amarilla a su paso por el Caribe; Amalia, futura esposa del pintor y diplomático Ramón Subercaseaux, Maximiano, Guillermo y José Tomás, futuro diplomático y pintor.
