Description

Blois (Loir-et-Cher)

L'hôtel de ville.

La mairie est située dans l'ancien palais des évêques de Blois. Palais construit au tout début du XVIIIe siècle par Jacques Gabriel, le même architecte qui construisit le pont.

Par les bombardements du 15 au 17 juin 1940, l'aviation allemande destruisit de nombreux immeubles du centre ville, dont l'ancienne mairie située sur les quais de Loire (ainsi que l’ancien hôtel d’Angleterre et la Banque régionale de l’Ouest). La mairie sera donc déménagée dans le palais épiscopal, situé proche de la cathédrale et qui était épargné.

Le fronton triangulaire est aux armes du premier évêque de Blois.
