Description

Hazard Beach, Montaña de Oro State Beach, California

The Humpback Whale has changed drastically since its arrival on the beach beach 5 days ago. Gases such as ammonia, methane, and sodium nitrate build up as the mammals viscera and stomach contents decompose

The whale is now on its back with its underside exposed. For this poor whale, the world has turned upside down. Clusters of barnacles are around the genitalia.
