Deutsch: Das Schloß Wernigerode® war ursprünglich eine mittelalterliche Burg, die den Weg der deutschen Kaiser des Mittelalters auf deren Jagdausflügen in den Harz sichern sollte. Im Laufe des 16. Jh. wurde die Burg zu einer Renaissancefestung umgebaut. Im Dreißigjährigen Krieg schwer verwüstet, begann Graf Ernst zu Stolberg-Wernigerode im späten 17. Jahrhundert mit dem barocken Umbau der Burgreste zu einem romantischen Residenzschloss.
Den wohl bedeutendsten Umbau in der Geschichte des Schlosses veranlasste Graf Otto zu Stolberg-Wernigerode. Das Schloß Wernigerode® wurde zu einem Leitbau des norddeutschen Historismus. Seit 1930 ist das Schloss in Teilen der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Zwei Museumsrundgänge führen die Gäste durch über 40 zum Teil original eingerichtete Wohnräume des deutschen Hochadels. |
