Summary
[edit]DescriptionBlaenau 1976 trackbed.jpg |
English: Old Track Bed, Festiniog Railway In 1976, before the Ffestiniog Railway was rebuilt back to Blaenau Ffestiniog, the original trackbed is clearly visible, adjacent to the old LMR station, then still open. A locomotive was on display on a plinth (can't remember which one) to publicise the line and intention to rebuild back to Blaenau. At that time, the company always used the English spelling 'Festiniog' (single 'f') as shown on the sign. That is why I have used the single f spelling in the title. It is still legally called the 'Festiniog Railway’; an act of parliament would be required to change it, but now uses 'Ffestiniog' in normal usage. The line through to Blaenau was finally re-opened in 1982. |
