| Description |
English: Blackpool Talbot Road / North railway station (site), Lancashire Opened in 1846 by the Preston & Wyre Joint Railway (joint between the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway and the London & North Western Railway) as the terminus of the line from Preston. It was rebuilt in 1898, and renamed Blackpool North in 1953. It closed in 1974 and the site was redeveloped. View towards the former frontage on Dickson Street, once the site of a clock tower. When the station was rebuilt in 1898, a number of adjacent Excursion Platforms were added, a few blocks away. In 1974, these became the basis for the new Blackpool North station - see SD3136 : Blackpool North railway station, Lancashire, 2000. |
