Sir R G Head, W Dawes, W L Gower, F M Campbell, W Bischoff, C Moore, W F Smith, L P Sueur, A Mitchell, T Dawes & A Poynder. The club is still in existence and holds the title of being the third-oldest rugby club in continuous existence in the world. The club started in 1858 by old boys of the Blackheath Proprietary School who played a carrying game of football made popular by Rugby School. The club which was open to anyone to join was a founder member of The Football Association . |
