Black swan statue, Winchester

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Statue of a black swan at 65 High Street, Winchester. The statue originally belonged to the Black Swan Hotel, at this site, but the hotel was closed and the building demolished in 1935. The swan was put on the new Black Swan Building, but fell to pieces in 1945, and a new statue was carved by local crafsman Edwin Laverty at the cost of £55. By the 2000's the swan statue had lost its head, and in 2017 the statue was taken to Portsmouth to be restored, and a new head added.
