Summary
[edit]DescriptionBlack Swan (River Ouse, Ely).jpg |
English: A Black Swan (Cygnus atratus), photographed from above, waterside at the River Ouse in Ely, Cambridgeshire. This one was part of a breeding pair (exceptionally rare considering they don't normally breed outside the native habitats of Australia and New Zealand), until the male of the pair was killed on the road adjacent to the river in mid 2010. The female however, has continued to visit the area, and remains an attraction to birdwatchers. This species is not native to the UK, and carries the RSPB Classification RNB5 (Rare, non breeding, under 500 known pairs). |
