Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Black Poplar, Watery Lane Black Poplars (Populus nigra) are rare trees in Britain - except in and around the Vale of Aylesbury, which has approximately half Britain's population of them. Watery Lane - seen here - is lined with fine examples of the species. Read more about this splendid tree, and its sad decline, here http://pages.eidosnet.co.uk/proe/ (dead link; archive) and a somewhat more dispassionate reference here http://www.biodiversitysussex.org/blackpoplar.htm (dead link; archive)
