This movie slowly rotates around a black hole surrounded by an accretion disk. Ripples and waves in the disk are caused by turbulent instabilities in the orbiting material, which is hottest and brightest along the inner edge of the disk.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This movie slowly rotates around a black hole surrounded by an accretion disk. Ripples and waves in the disk are caused by turbulent instabilities in the orbiting material, which is hottest and brightest along the inner edge of the disk. Occasionally the light from stars that pass directly behind the black hole is distorted to form a complete ring around the object.
