Black-shouldered Kite, Elanus axillaris +=======================+ This one had been sitting peacefully on the branch having just consumed a meal. I would have expected it to sit for a few minutes. But to my suprise it jumped from the branch and threw backward. Most unusual. Then a red vehicle pulled up on the track behind me, and it had obviously been too much for the young kite. Now in its fourth week on the wing, it does show what control and skill it has developed. It was out of frame before I'd realised it had gone. :-) |
