Description
English: Contrasts at Birmingham New Street: LNER 4-6-0 and LMS 2-6-0.
Early post-nationalisation view at the west end of the Midland section of New Street Station, with LMS Hughes/Fowler 5P4F 2-6-0 No. 2758 (built 1927 as No. 13058) is nearest on a train to Bristol, while ahead of it is LNE Thompson B1 4-6-0 No. 61325 (built 6/48, withdrawn 9/63) of Immingham, which has just brought the 06.52 from Cleethorpes via Lincoln and Nottingham, a then unique Inter-Regional working.
