ThisFlycatcher has also been observed nest-ing in the dry blossom-stalks of theyucca and the century-plant in south-western New Mexico. The nest of the Ash-throated Fly-catcher is placed at various heights fromthe ground, though seldom at a greaterelevation than twenty feet. The size ofthe nest varies also. If the hole is oflarge dimensions it is partly filled withstems, roots, grass and other availablematter, and upon this the nest is built.The walls of the nest usually consist ofmatted hair and fur which is sometimeslined with feathers. Unlike the easterncrested flycatcher, the Ash-throated spe-cies seldom uses, in the construction of itsnest, the exuviae of reptiles.
