as it constantly jerks its tail whileit flutters about the hedges and scat-tered shrubbery, or when running on theground among the weeds of old fields.It may even frequent dusty roadsides.Wherever it is, it frequently utters itslow tsip, a note that is very similar tothat of many of its sister warblers. Dr. Brewer says, They have no othersong than a few simple and feeble notes,so thin and weak that they might almostbe mistaken for the sound made by thecommon grasshopper. The Palm Warblers nest is a trimstructure, usually placed upon theground and never far above it. Thewalls consist of interwoven dry grasses,stems of the smaller herbaceous plants,bark fibres and various mosses. It islined with very fine grasses, vegetabledown and feathers. Though this homeis placed in quite open places, a retiredspot is usually selected.
