T had a fairly long acquaintance with a specimen in theWestern Aviary at the Zoo, which was absolutely without fear, andsimply used any and every visitor who entered his enclosure assome new kind of perching apparatus, inquisitively hoppingfrom shoulder to shoulder, hand to hand or arm to arm, inquisit-ively poking its sharp bill into pocket or crevice and was not theleast averse to being handled—this is the bird from which theabove description of the plumage was taken. This bird was agreat attraction to thf/se present at our Members Meetings at theZoo ; alas it is now no more. I have not been able in the time at my disposal to glean anynotes of its wild life.
