re: Threepairs nested in a young orchard behind my house and adjacent to my garden. I did notsee them once go to the shore for food, but I did see them many times make faithfulsearch of my garden for cutworms, spotted squash bugs, and green flies. Cutworms andcabbage worms were their especial prey. After the young could fly, they still kept atwork in my garden and showed no inclination to go to the shore until about August 15.They and a flock of Quail just over the wall helped me wonderfully.—A. The Audubon Societies 371 For and From Adult and Young ObserversOUR BIRD EXHIBIT A bird exhibit was held by the Junior Audubon Society of Grades V and VI,at Fields School, Wollaston, Mass., on May 6. Bird records were played onthe victrola, and the children enjoyed them very much. Stuffed birds were loaned by Henry Jones, and four or five came from theWollaston School. Among the birds there were the Blue Jay, Flicker, King-fisher, Loon, Rail, Barred Owl, Cedar Waxwing, and many others.

MASSACHUSETTS FIELDS SCHOOL, GRADES V AND VI There were some nests brought in by the children, although Miss Thayerbrought most of them. There were nests of the Baltimore Oriole, Robin,Hummingbird, Barn Swallow, Chipping Sparrow, and others, too. On the wall there were pictures from the Audubon Leaflets and drawingscolored by the children. Booklets written by the class on How Birds WillHelp to Win the War were displayed. Five dollars was received from the exhibit. Half of it was donated to theJunior Red Cross and half to the Massachusetts Audubon Society.—Eliza-beth Morris (age 11 years). (The teacher of these pupils writes: The boys and girls have enjoyed very muchour work on birds this year. Meetings have been held every week since the last of March.The pupils look forward to Tuesday afternoons when one of their members presides.We have found the Audubon leaflets and the outline drawings very helpful.
