e Protection of Birds asktheir respective Governments to give protec-tion to the birds indigenous to the Polyne-sian Islands severally belonging to them.Mr. Bryan states that there is a Japanesecorporation which is now actively engagedin collecting sea-birds plumage for theBerlin, Paris and London feather markets. Rev. W. R. Lord, of Massachusetts, onthe invitation of a number of bird-lovers inWashington, visited in June that far-offnorthwestern state. During the month hewas there he delivered many lectures andgave bird talks to a large number of teachers,scholars and the general public, with theresult that great interest in bird pro-tection was aroused. Mr. Lord writes thatundoubtedly a little later in the season anAudubon Society will be formally launchedin Washington. On his way home Mr. Lordstopped at Detroit, Michigan, and gave anillustrated bird talk in that city under theauspices of the Michigan Audubon Society.
