l Mountainvalley. No one school has enough pupilsof required age to form a circle, and thedistances between them are so great thatfrequent meetings cannot be held, butgood work is being done. The most interesting feature of ourwork the past year was the collection ofabandoned birds nests in the autumn. One school of five pupils collected over100 nests. From these collections, twoselections of ten nests each were made, tobe sent to New York City. One collectionwent to the Jacob Riis Settlement, andone passed through the hands of threekindergartners, interesting 100 children. To each nest was attached a colored pic-ture of the bird which had made the nest, and a description of its habits. Lettersfrom the Settlement children and thekindergartners brought to the Circleexpressions of delightful appreciation. The ofiicers of the Circle are, President,Clark Sheley; Secretary, Helen DuBois;Treasurer, Pearl Mulford. At the present time the management ofthe two groups of government reserva-tions is under separate heads, and separateappropriations are made for their main-tenance. It is understood that SecretaryLane greatly favors this proposal toCongress, and the National Associationof Audubon Societies is actively workingfor the consummation of the plan.
