lund,principal of No. 5 School, Bronx, NewYork Citj^ very kindly loaned a largenumber of bird-boxes prepared by thestudents of his school. These representeda wide variety of architectural construc-tion, and many were exceedingly beauti-ful. There was also on display an exam-ple of the unique barrel bird-nesting box,exhibited by Mr. Ernest Harold Baynes,samples of the von Berlepsch bird-boxes,and one of the American form of the vonBerlepsch box, manufactured by Mr. Philip E. Perry, of Massachusetts. Mr. J.Warren Jacobs, of Waynesburg, Pennsyl-vania, sent pictures, diagram and litera-ture, in reference to the popular Martin-boxes which he so successfully manufac-tures. These materials, together withfeeding-shelves, food-bells, and otherdevices for attracting birds, created muchinterest on the part of those who werepresent at the meeting. All the sessions were well attended,and representatives from the followingState Audubon Societies were also pres-ent, viz: New York, Connecticut, Rhode

A Result of Stopping Spring Shooting The New York Legislature, in 1910,enacted a law prohibiting the killing ofBrant in spring, after January 10, thusanaking the Brant season conform withthe statutory period allowed for killing■other wild fowl in the waters aboutLong Island. Before that time, these birds could be aging Black Ducks to remain and nest inthe region. We have the authority ofDr. Frank Overton, of Patchogue, NewYork, for the statement that, the pastsummer, over 300 of these birds nested onthe meadows in the vicinity of Morichesalone.
