Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Bird's-nest Orchids (Neottia nidus-avis) On White Hill. This species is saprophytic, feeding on leaf litter in deep shade, and therefore has no need for chlorophyll, hence the lack of any green colour. The name "birds nest" refers to the shape of the roots (not that they should be dug up to investigate!).
