The Southern Pacific Passenger Depot was built on the north end of Willamette Street in 1908.

The Eugene Depot was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. The depot and surrounding park were established as part of the City Beautiful movement. In 1955, Southern Pacific abandoned its Shasta Line and the park was later removed. Following renovations in 2004, it became a passenger station on the Amtrak Cascades line.
