| Description |
Binion's is one of the better known casinos of downtown Las Vegas. Despite the Fremont Street Experience and other investments made in the downtown area, it is difficult for downtown's storied casinos to compete with the brand-new mega-resorts on the Strip. Some, such as Lady Luck, have completely closed, while others, such as Plaza, are partially shut down. Another disadvantage for downtown is that the Strip is more accessible for visitors from Los Angeles; in fact, the Strip was originally the Los Angeles Highway, the vehicular approach for those arriving from California, and its first resorts had popped up precisely to cater to visiting Californians. |
