Description
English: Medieval copper alloy binding strip from casket, decorative strip cast transverse and oblique lines forming stylised animal head at both ends, broken across rivet-hole at one end and across snout of animal-head at other end, rivet-hole through central part of flattened D-sectioned bar with slight median arris, 7 x (at least) 55mm. Cf. brief discussion of type by Goodall in Coad Arch. J. (1982), 235. 12th/13th century.
