A little ahead of the famous Ashok Binayaka or Ganesha temple of Maru Tol of Kathmandu is on the left side i.e. near the newly built Kasthamandap. This pagoda-style 2-storied temple was damaged in the 2072 earthquake. According to the locals, at that time, no one could go inside this temple to perform puja or archana. Devotees used to visit this Shivlinga through the hole of the temple. Although the temple was opened once a year, no one was allowed to enter inside. This ancient Shiva temple was built in 1693. The Shivling here is very different from other Shivlings. Various idols of Gods are carved around the Shivlinga. According to the locals, there was also an inscription in this temple, but the inscription is no longer there. At that time, this Shivlinga temple on the top of three steps was very artistic as well as attractive. Currently, the Shivlinga is kept surrounded from all sides.
