Louis Miller, of Philadelphia, who is gen-erally called Dad by his friends and ac.quaintances. can no doubt lay claim to thetitle of the oldest bill poster in the world.He was born March 1, 1821, and has beenactively engaged in business since he wastwelve years of age. He Is still hale andhearty, able to eat three meals a day, andtake spiritual nourishment as often as he isasked. Mr. Miller has seen bill posting de-velop from a puny industry into a businesswhere millions of dollars are invested. Atpresent he is the superintendent of the stock-room at the American Bill Posting Compa-nys plant in Philadelphia, and despite hisage Is -to be found at his post every day.With sufficient of this worlds goods to makebis declining years comfortable, with a berththat Is pleasant and which gives him achance to meet many of his old friends,Dad Miller is the happiest man In Amer-ica.

Two years passed.One Say I received a card stating he wouldvisit me in Julv. after doing the Trans-Mlssisslppl Exposition at Omaha. True tohis word he came. One night we were dis-cussing the events that lead to our acquaint-ance, when our friend the tobacco drum-mers name was mentioned. My friend said: Theres the finest fellow I ever saw.Or.ce. When I was with a circus years a^o.we showed In a small town in Illinois. Thecanvss men failed to put up the seats cua-stantlaiy. and wtoen they were thoroughlypacked, gave way. Several people were hurt-It caused a panic. A little girl about twelveyears of age was thrown against a sasolinelamp; her clot.ilng took fire. I rushed upand smothered the flames with a piece cfcarpet used
