| Description |
English: Big Creek flows through a portion of the Cleveland Zoo, one of the Cleveland Metroparks in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.
Big Creek is the third-largest tributary of the lower Cuyahoga River watershed (consisting of Cuyahoga, Portage, and Summit counties). It is 12 miles long and drains 39 square miles. Running through the municipalities of Brook Park, Brooklyn, Cleveland, Linndale, North Royalton, Parma, and Parma Heights, the Big Creek watershed is the most severely urbanized watershed of the Cuyahoga River, with 52 percent of all land impervious to precipitation. It is heavily armored (with concrete banks), confined (by making banks higher and more vertical), entrenched (deepening the channel), gabioned (fence-enclosed rock is used to armor the banks), straightened, and culvertized (running through tunnels). |
