[edit]DescriptionBhaidegaha Temple Patan Durbar Square Mangal Bazaar Patan Lalitpur Nepal Rajesh Dhungana (1).jpg |
English: Bhaidegha Temple located in the Patan Durbar premises of Lalitpur district. The temple was destroyed by the 1986 and 1990 earthquakes. The pagoda style of the temple was very artistic. It was rebuilt into a dome. The temple is currently being rebuilt. After the death of King Siddhinar Singh Malla of Patan, his son Srinivasa Malla passed away. Resident Bhagirath was appointed to the post of Chautara. At that time, Chautara was considered the prime minister. Appreciating Bhagirath's merits, Srinivasa Malla has mentioned that there is no difference between him and Bhagirath. The record is in Machhindra Bahal Tol. Today this temple is also called Bhaidegah, Bhaiya Degal, Bhaideval after the same Bhagirath Bhaiya.
The beautiful 17th-century temple was destroyed 255 years later by a massive earthquake in 1990. After that, the temple was built in the style of a dome. The temple, built by Henry Ambrose Oldfield, a surgeon on a British mission during Jung Bahadur's reign, has been rebuilt in its original form. Similarly, the 1986 collection of Felix Brandit from Germany made it very easy to find the old look of the temple. Author Gauri Bahadur Karki has mentioned that the picture helped to design the temple by identifying its initial shape and location and the construction work has started accordingly on 4 February 2075 in Himal. |
