Description Arms of Beruen/Berven/Berwen: Argent, a lion rampant sable within a bordure engrailed of the second (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.76 "Beruen/Berven/Berwen", but with bordure plain). An heiress of "Bestney of Hertfordshire", quartered by "Bestney of Hertfordshire", see pedigree of Bestney in 1634 Visitation of Hertfordshire (Metcalfe, W. C., ed. (1886). The Visitations of Hertfordshire, made by Robert Cooke, esq, Clarencieux, in 1572, and Sir Richard St George, Kt, Clarencieux, in 1634, with Hertfordshire pedigrees from Harleian MS 6147. Harleian Society, 1st ser. 22. London.), Appendix II, p.126[1] ; "John Bestney of Soham in Cambrideshire married Elizabeth Berven, daughter and heiress of Reignold Berven of Hertfordshire".
