I^edc^c^ NEW RED STELE RESISTANT HIGH QUALITY MIDSEASON VARIETY
Text Appearing After Image:
REDCHIEF, introduced in 1968 by USDA and Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station, is a new midseason variety that is suitable for the home gardener as well as the commercial grower. It is ideal for "pick your own" plantings. Redchief s sweet flavor, uniform red color, and firm glossy surface make it a high quality dessert berry. It makes good jam, and its high quality is also maintained when frozen. Being a firm berry it ships very well and holds up during the picking season. REDCHIEF is resistant to five strains of red stele, leaf scorch, mildew, and moderately resistant to Verticillium wilt. The plants have medium vigor, make a good matted row, and produce above average yields. Redchief has performed very well from Maryland north to Massachusetts and west to Illinois. There are nothing but good reports from commercial growers in Michigan. With Rayner's virus-free plants, you will be more than pleased with this wonderful new variety. 25 Plants $3.50; 50 for $5.25; 100 for $7.90; 500 for $22.75; 1,000 for $35.00 January 7, 1970 Furcha&ed 50 -plants of Redchief last year from you which look very promising. I am sending an order for 1000 Red<:hlef, A. J. BuRKARB, Jr., Arnold, Mo. "Tft^iACate EXTRA LATE — EXTRA LARGE Marlate is a new extra late, high quality variety that extends picking well past the regular season. The plants are vigorous and it appears to be resistant to leaf diseases. The berries are large, bright, firm, and very attractive. Marlate holds its size throughout the harvest season, and the fruit stems snap freely making them easy to pick. This variety has been tested thoroughly in Maryland, Pennsylvania and neighboring states and cer-1 tainly, appears worthy of trial for those who want an extra late variety that ripens after Jerseybelle but before Redstar. Supply is limited for this variety. 25 Plants $3.75; 50 for $5.60; 100 for $8.50; 250 for $16.40. Prices do not include postage. 12 ORDER EARLY-—PLANT EARLY
