Description

Triebwagen 218 053-5. A pair of the quite stunningly beautiful Gotha-Großraumwagen which Berlin used on the routes in the south east of the city. The 86 route went between here Alt-Schmöckwitz and S-Bhf. Köpenick, having been cut back many years previously from Mahlsdorf/Süd. From 1980 , all of these cars, (68 motors and 122 trailers originsally but much reduced ,especially in trailers by 1984) were based at Köpenick, In 1993 the 86 was renumbered as the 68. These Gotha vehicles finaly left Berlin in Summer 1996. Car 053 originaly ran in Magdeburg until 1969, and was renumbered 3853 in 1993. Numbers above 034 of motor cars were acquired from Dresden and Magdeburg. Below that they were new to Berlin.
