Berlin Potsdamer Platz Haus Vaterland showing at the Kammer Lichtspiele is Das Ruf des Nordens, of 1929 I.W.B. nr 194 posted 16 June 1930 to Varnsdorf, Bohemia [CSR] at 10pf rate. Haus Vaterland and the Ufa Cinema occupied 1-5 of Koethenerstrasse, just behind the two trams,, but the above frontage is opposite the Bahnhof. All premises in Koethenerstrasse lay in Verwaltungsbezirk VI Kreuzberg. Apparently in 1938 there was a change in Boundary which yielded the Bahnhof and tracks to the canal to Mitte Bezirk, leading to the building becoming part of East Berlin although in wrecked form. Prior to 1923, the underground railway station was known as Leipziger Platz. |
