DescriptionBerlin - Memorial Church from Europa-Center.jpg |
Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church was built to honor Kaiser Wiilhelm I, who presided over the unification of Germany. It was mostly built in 1891-1895, and completed in 1906. It was severely damaged in an air raid in 1943. The Berlin government decided to preserve the ruins as a memorial to the horrors of war. A modern church and belfry were constructed in 1959-1963. the complex is in Breitscheidplatz, . The end of Kurfürstendamm is at the lift, and Hardenbergstrasse goes to the right. Kantstrasse is at top left. The railroad bridge across Hardenbergstrasse is at far right.. |
