Deutsch: Historisches Geschäftshaus in der Stralauer Straße (ehemalige Hausnummer 44-45), heute in den Neubau der Zentrale der Berliner Wasserbetriebe (1998-2000) an der Neuen Jüdenstraße 1-3 integriert. Das 1911-1913 vom Architekten Felix Lindhorst errichtete Gebäude reichte ursprünglich mit Seitenflügeln und mehreren Quergebäuden bis zum Rolandufer; die rückwärtigen Gebäudeteile wurden aber im Zweiten Weltkrieg zerstört und später abgerissen. Hier befand sich einst die Wäschereifabrik von Moritz Rosenthal, der den Gebäudekomplex mit mehreren Höfen 1918 erwarb (seither auch als Rosenthal-Höfe bekannt), als Jude aber 1933 zwangsweise an die Stadt Berlin verkaufen musste; die Rückübertragung an die Erbengemeinschaft erfolgte 1994. Eine Gedenktafel am Haus erinnert an Moritz Rosenthal und seine Frau Ulla, die 1944 in Auschwitz ermordet wurden. Das erhaltene Vorderhaus ist als Teil des Bauensembles Stralauer Straße denkmalgeschützt. |
