Summary
[edit]DescriptionBerlin, Mitte, Oranienburger Straße 34, Wohnhaus 01.jpg |
English: House at Oranienburger Straße No. 34, corner of Tucholskystraße (on the left) in Berlin-Mitte, constructed in 1792 as residential building and altered several times since. The building belongs to the oldest structures on Oranienburger Straße. The top stories with representative rooms in the architectural style of Classicism were built during reconstruction in 1806. The building was again renovated in 1860 to a design by Carl Schwatlo (who later built the large Postal Wagon Office on the other side of Tucholskystraße) and received its facade in the style of late classicism. The interior of the top stories was also changed at that time, receiving stucco ceilings and parquet floors, which have been preserved. The stores on the ground floor, now used by the restaurant "Oranium", were constructed during renovation in 1905. The building is landmarked. |
