| Description |
Deutsch: Das ehemalige "Damenmodehaus Kersten und Tuteur", heute "Tuteur-Haus", an der Leipziger Straße 36, Ecke Charlottenstraße (rechts), in Berlin-Mitte. Das Haus wurde 1886 errichtet und erhielt sein heutiges Aussehen bei einem Umbau durch den Architekten Hermann Muthesius im Jahr 1913. Die zeitgenössische Architekturkritik lobte das mit einem reich ornamentierten, dreiteiligen, zweistöckigen Schaufester an der Ecke und einer Pfeilerfassade versehene Gebäude. Die im Zweiten Weltkrieg beschädigte Fassade wurde in der Nachkriegszeit nur vereinfacht wiederhergestellt, in den vergangenen Jahren aber originalgetreu rekonstruiert, ebenso wie zwei von dem Bildhauer Andreas Höfer stammende Frauenskulpturen an den Eckpfeilern. Das Gebäude steht unter Denkmalschutz.
English: The former "Ladies' Fashion House Kersten und Tuteur", now called "Tuteur House", at Leipziger Straße 36, corner of Charlottenstraße (on the right) in Berlin-Mitte. The house was built in 1886 and received its present-day outlook during reconstruction in 1913. The achitecture critics praised the design by Hermann Muthesius who gave the building a richly ornamented tripartite two-story display window at the corner and a column facade typical for its time. The building was damaged in WWII and the facade was later reconstructed in a simplified fashion. In recent years, the original outlook of the building has been restored, which includes the sculptures of two females at the corner columns, originally created by sculptor Andreas Höfer. The building has been designated as a historic landmark. |
