Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Former office building of the German Domestic and Foreign Trade Corporation (DIA) at Friedrichstraße No. 180-184 in Berlin-Mitte, built 1955, now part of the "Quarter 110". The large building complex between Taubenstraße and Mohrenstraße is marked by the light facade of Elbe sandstone and Rochlitz ignimbrite and the two corner risalits. It shows the influence of Neo-Renaissance architecture. The building was designed in the context of a plan to broaden Friedrichstraße in the long run and to construct representative public office buildings along the street. These plans were given up after German reunification. The Hertie School of Governance and the IGES Institute for Health and Social Research are just two of several institutions which now have their seat here. The building is landmarked.
