Summary
English: Former office building of the Verein deutscher Ingenieure/VDI (Association of German Engineers) on Ebertstraße, corner of Dorotheenstraße (on the left) in Berlin-Mitte. It is now integrated into the Jakob-Kaiser-Haus and thus belongs to the largest parliament building in Germany. The house was built 1911 to 1914 to a design by the architects Konrad Reimer and Friedrich Körte. The large windows on the first floor show the location of what was originally the boardroom of the VDI. The imposing design of the building was an architectural response to the nearby Reichstag. The original hip roof was destroyed in WWII and is now replaced by a glass structure, designed by Pie de Bruijn, in which conference rooms are located. The building is landmarked. |
